How many slides does it produce?
Nine: cover, about, how it works, differentiators, business model, market, traction, reach and a closing slide. The traction slide can be dropped, giving you eight. That is roughly the length most investors expect for a first-round deck, and short enough that every slide has to earn its place.
What format do I get?
PDF. It is the format investors ask for, it looks identical on every device, and it survives being forwarded without fonts moving around. You cannot open it in Keynote or PowerPoint to keep editing, so treat the PDF as the finished artefact rather than a working file.
Can I edit it after exporting?
Not directly, since the output is a PDF. To change anything, edit your answers and generate the deck again, which takes a moment. In practice this is a reasonable workflow for a deck, because you will revise the wording several times between the first draft and the meeting.
Can I match it to my brand?
Yes. Choose a theme, a typeface and an accent colour, and upload your own logo and product screenshot. It will not reproduce a full brand system with custom layouts and illustration, but it will stop the deck looking like an off-the-shelf template, which is most of the benefit.
What if I have no traction to show yet?
Leave the traction slide out. It is optional by design: add one row to the traction question to include it, or leave that question empty and the slide disappears. An honest deck without a metrics slide reads better than four numbers padded out with website visits and mailing list sign-ups.
How long should the cover tagline be?
One line, two at most. It has to tell someone outside your industry what you do and who for. If you need a sentence to set up the sentence, it is too long. Try reading it to a friend in another field; if they can repeat it back, it works.
Will this deck get me funded?
No deck does that on its own. Investors back the business, the numbers and the founders, and the deck is how they decide whether to spend an hour finding out more. What a good structure does is remove reasons to stop reading: no confusion about what you do, no missing model, no unreadable screenshot.
Should I send it before the meeting or present it live?
Both happen, and the deck has to work either way. Presented live it should be sparse enough that you are the one explaining. Sent ahead it has to stand alone, because it will be forwarded to colleagues you never meet. If a slide only makes sense with your commentary, add a line of context to it.
